Guardian Ávila
Guardian Ávila is a Panoramic Fine Art Canvas Print created from one of my photographs of El Ávila, the mountain overlooking Caracas, Venezuela. I worked with color, texture, and contrast to give the photograph a painted character while preserving the mountain’s natural presence above the city.

Contact for AvailabilityWhy I Chose This Name
I chose the name Guardian Ávila because of the mountain’s enormous presence above Caracas. In this image, El Ávila feels almost like a quiet guardian watching over the city.
Artist’s Story
Guardian Ávila began with one of my photographs of El Ávila, the mountain overlooking Caracas, Venezuela.
What has always attracted me to this view is the difference in scale. Caracas sits below in the valley, while El Ávila rises above the city with an enormous presence.
Caracas has long been called “La Sultana del Ávila.” I have always liked that name because it says a lot about the relationship between the city and the mountain.
I worked the photograph digitally, adjusting color, texture, and contrast to give the image its painted character while keeping El Ávila and the city recognizable.
Artist’s Reflection
“When I look at this view, I don’t just see a mountain. I see the quiet guardian that has always watched over Caracas.”
— Orlando Fernández Jaramillo
